Currently ESSC offer only RYA recognised courses and they are the RYA Powerboat level 2 which within the SBA (Sovereign Base Areas) is a minimum requirement for any powerboat users and for the more experienced we also offer the RYA safety boat course.
The RYA Level 2 Powerboat driver course
The powerboat level 2 course is delivered over 2 full days, usually a Saturday and Sunday. The course is aimed at novice boat handlers and aims to provide the basic range of skills and knowledge to operate a powerboat in a safe and competent manner. The course is delivered on RHIBs (Rigid Inflatable), which are ideally suited to this type of training. The boats are both fully equipped and indeed are used by the Club in the safety support roles, when not engaged in training. The Clubs has a small team of RYA qualified Instructors. During the course you will cover, slow and high speed manoeuvring, turning in a confined space. Mooring, towing, picking up a buoy and man over board recovery.
RYA Safetyboat Course
The safety boat course is aimed at experienced powerboat operators, and aims to teach specialist rescue techniques in support of most water based activities. During the course the students will be show how to recover a number of different type of seagoing vessel, including, dinghies, catamarans, wind surfers, kite surfers and canoes. All to be found operating in the epi bay area
